On September 18, 1931, the Northeast region fell into the colony of Japan. The brutal colonial rule of Japanese imperialism made the social economy and political structure of Northeast changed seriously and disorderedly. Meanwhile, it hurt the social psychology of the people there severely. As a result, the psychology of the masses of all social strata in the Northeast region also changed greatly. This thesis, with the method and theory of psychology, explains the historical phenomena through analyzing the language, feeling and social activities of the common people. The focus of the thesis is to trace the change of the social psychology of the people of middle and lower classes during the event which broke out on September 18, 1931, in order to reveal what role this change played in the emergence and development of the anti-Japanese campaign in Northeast. The thesis is divided into five parts: Preface, Part I, Part II, Part III and Conclusion. Preface:introduces the significance of selecting the topic of the thesis, the present research and new discoveries concerning the topic, and some relevant concepts.Part I:introduces the historical background of the change of the social psychology of the masses of the Northeast region. It expounds the social structure of the Northeast region before the event took place on September 18, 1931, and the condition of the social psychology of the masses, especially the worrying mentality under crisis.Part II :expounds the impetus and assault of the event on the society and the psychology of the masses, the influence of the event on the traditional psychology of the masses, and the hurt that the masses had to suffer under the control of the "non-resistance" policy of Kuomintang administration.Part III: analyzes the state and influence of the change of social psychology. After the event took place on September 18, 1931, the change of the social psychology of the masses mainly displayed in the following aspects: first, the anti-Japanese mentality with the spiritual core of love of the homeland; second, the mentality of being slaves; third, the mentality of being unconcerned and tolerant of being conquered. Among the above three, the first one is the main stream of the psychology of the masses, which is a progressive and active social psychology. It plays an important role in the emergence and continuous development of the anti-Japanese campaign, without which the climax of anti-Japanese campaign would not spring up.To draw a conclusion, "invasion---awakening---resistance" is not a simple linear process, but one that has left a complex and tortuous historical mark on the psychology of everyone. Through analyzing the social psychology of the masses of the Northeast region before and after the event took place on September 18, 1931, the thesis explores the influence of the event on the masses of all social strata. The aim of the thesis is to reveal the role that the change of the social psychology of the masses played in advancing the anti-Japanese campaign.
