Grass-roots Police Mental Health And Related Factors

The police is a high risky and high-pressure job, the healthy psychological statuses is one of the policeman's diathesis. But the research on the police mental health and its relevant factors is very scarce in China.This study is on the basic level of the police mental health and the main factors that influence it in Shandong province. We investigate 334 policemen by SCL-90, LES and "police's life-work questionnaire" that making up by ourselves. And adopt the analytical method of the data, such as t examining, F examining, LSD multiple comparative ,etc, It regards sex, age, alert kind, area as variables and analysis the difference in mental health levels and relevant factors. At this foundation, propose the methods to improve the basic level of the police mental health.The following conclusion must happen in this research:1. The basic level of mental health that originally studies 334 police is lower than the national ordinary crowd. Compared with the ordinary crowd, police's of Shandong Province score on every factor of SCL - 90 is higher, and factors differences are remarkable.2.The differences of police's mental health among sex, age, alert kind and area are remarkable. Man higher than the woman generally. The most serious mental health problems is the police 31-40 years old, secondly the police 26-30 years old, thirdly 41-47 years old, the police 18-25 years old has relatively high level. Scout policeman and points man relatively have low level mental health, constable policeman and patrolman slightly better. There are relatively serious in Jinan, secondly Qingdao, then Shouguang.3. Women score on LES total scale; family question is higher than man notably. 31-40 years old scores remarkable higher than other age on life incident total points, family issue and work issue get. Remarkable difference does not exist between different alert kind and the areas.4. Indicate through the analysis to "police's life-work questionnaire", the mainly realistic factors that influencing police's mental health is: work overload, bad life style, nervous of interpersonal relationships, desalinizing between the police and the people and maladjustment to work reform.
