Chinese Revision Of Sports Situational Interest Scale (pesis) Reliability And Validity Of Verification And Application Of Empirical Research

Situational interest is defined as the appealing effect ofcharacteristics of an activity or a learning task on individual, ratherthan the individual's personal preference for the activity. It isdetermined by many factors. With the development of construct andcurriculum and teaching theory on knowledge construct, research onteaching situation's establishment and its influence on students'establishment of cognitive construct has become an important part. In theconcerning researching fields, many researches focus on situationalinterests instead of individual interests, because the situationalinterests don't deriving from the formation of person's knowledgerepertoire and value systems, compared with individual interests.The research was divided into two parts. First of all, it revised thereliability and validity materials of PESIS made by Ang Chen et al. Onthe basis of the confirmation of PESIS's construct, we used Chineserevised PESIS Ⅰand choose the teaching video of jogging and gymnasticsas the experimental materials to test shanghai middle school students'situational interest in PE and adopt exploratory factor analysis todiscriminate the item buildup of each dimension. Then we revised the item,which has an unreasonable factor loading .We re-test the situationalinterest of the same students in PE with the revised PESIS. By exploratoryand confirmatory factor analysis, we eventually got the six-elementconstruct of situational interests, which include novelty, challenge,attention demands, exploring intention, instant enjoyment and totalinterest, by factor and item discrimination analysis to each dimension,the buildup of each dimension and its internal consistency was alsoachieved. The results of the research indicate that the six elements canpredict 58.24 percent of the total variance in jogging and 60.12 percentin gymnastics. The internal consistency Cronbach's alpha between thescale and the dimensions are .90,.89,.86,.84,.87,.91 and .87 in joggingand .94,.91,.83,.88,.86,.89,.91 in gymnastics. The revised scalehas a comparatively better construct validity. What's more, through thetestee'rating to each item and expert judgment, we got its contentvalidity; after the analysis of the students'situational interest tojogging and gymnastics, the prediction validity is confirmed.
