The author of this paper has conducted a survey over 2 months in about 300 people concerning the misunderstandings and confusion among quite a number of Chinese actors/actresses on the experience problem in performing. The author concludes that performing experience is characteristic of being lively, emotional and creative. In this paper, the author firstly analyzes respectively each of the 3 above-mentioned features and puts forward the theory that "All the performing arts focusing on shaping images cannot live without the experience of creation". Secondly, by analyzing the means through which the actors/actresses may achieve the experience of creation, the author reaches the conclusion that "Knowing and understanding the characters is the indispensable means of achieving the experience of creation". Lastly, according to the different distance between the actors/actresses to the created characters, the author demonstrates some methods and instances which conform to the principles of "inside to outside" or "outside to inside" in order to justify the above-mentioned conclusions. What counts most is that neither the "inside to outside" nor the "outside to inside" principle is absolute or the one and only method. In the process of the actors/actresses creating the characters, the two principles will suppliment each other and eventually reaches the combination of the inside and outside of the characters.
