The intellectuals in "A dream of red mansions" and "unofficial history of the Confucian scholars" include "Confucian scholar" and "gifted female scholar". The article will compare the two novels based on the historical background on which the general features of the Confucian scholar and the gifted female scholar will be analysed combined with the analysis of the specific characters and draw the general regularities. As far as the historical background that is used to analyse the specific characters, the article will be concerned too.The article will be divided into three parts. Chapter One will illustrate the effect of the culture and education despotism of Qing dynasty in the two novels in order to explain the different attitudes and choices in life of the specific Confucian scholar and the general state of the Confucian scholars. Chapter Two will develop the cultural living condition of the Gifted female scholars, their conflicts within their inner most heart, their practical decision faced with the dilemma of love and morality, their pursuit of life and reasons and the subtle relationship of the fate and talent. Chapter Three will go on expounding the relevant historical background in the above two chapter combining the two novels.
