The later period of Qing Dynasty was faced with severe situations that had never happened for thousands of years. When the crisis of ruining closed step by step, any intellectual with conscience will take his best to save state, making the homeland independent strong and prosperous is common desire of all people. In order to complete the hope, the intellectual thinked and explorered from beginning to end. Under the kind of urgent and unique environmnet, Kangyouwei gave up traditional scholarship,absorbed the evolution view of western natural science, annotated traditional theory of "Gongyang", invented his own evolutive theory of "three ages" ,it was different from traditongal philosophy and the evolutionism that was introduced completely from the western. It was a new theory that adapted to the surroundings of modern China, played an imortant and positive role in promoting the development of China.There are three parts in the article. The first part has analysed the source of Kangyouwei's reform thought. Kangyouwei had a overbearing and proud personality, inimitable self-confidence. The two parts affected each other. Stimulated by the current pressing circumstance, on the base of Chinese tradition philosophy that advocate variety and reform, Kangyouwei absorbed the knowledge of evolutionism, resolved to institute his own distinctive theory to save China, that is the theory of "three ages".The second part is the main portion of this dissertation. This part discuss Kangyouwei's reform thought, including its forming process content and characteristic. Kangyouwei made the confucian classics that included the theory of "Gongyang" the thought of great harmony world the changing philosophy and wester doctrine combined and integrated, at the same time he completed his evolutionism, we could comprehend his theory concretely through three aspects: the advancemengt of civilization the development of society the improvement of political system. At last,we compare the theory of "three ages" with the evolutionism spreaded by Yanfu.The third part is the coclusivepart. This portion try to appraise Kangyouwei'sreform thought rationally, demonstrate his effort and importance, analyse the questions that we should pay attention to when we use the experience of other countries. It had a long way to build up a developed and wealthy country.
