In all the explanatory texts which are preserved today, Wang Yi's Chuci Zhangju is the first and intact one. It is also the first work on exegesis in Zhangju form. Chuci Zhangju analyses Chuci thoroughly and systematically. It contributes to the study of Chuci by interpreting the words and the sentences, and expounding the theme of Chuci. The scholars after Dong Han Dynasty all consider it as the original edition when studying Chuci. It is not only an important document of the study of Chuci, but a significant book in the history of exegesis subject. However, when researching Chuci Zhangju, the academic circles usually pay attention to the study of Chuci subject and seldom make a deep study of exegesis terms. Taking Chuci Zhangju as the object to study, this thesis probes into its technical terms, contents and characteristics, and analyses its achievements, effect and inadequacy in the aspect of exegesis. In this way, this thesis is in an attempt to give a fairly overall description and a correct evaluation. It also hopes to provide a reference to the study of Chuci subject.
