| The intention of this thesis is analyzing the rational spirits of the essay works in 'Isolated Island', which is from Nov 13, 1937 to Dec 8, 1941 in Shanghai concessions by United States, British and France. We can find the main rational spirits, the humanitarianism rational spirit and the revolution rational spirit, and their special existence in which is partly following the precious period respectively and partly came out the changes in the 'Isolated Island' cultural environment. We would find the reasons from the rational spirits and inner world of the writers through the struggle and combination between them in the essay works so that we can clarify the trend in the essay of 'Isolated Island'.Firstly, I'd like to make the brief analysis about the culture environment of the 'Isolated Island' which let us get a whole impression about the literature condition at that time so that we can clarify the relationships and the existence of the humanitarianism and revolution rational spirits.Secondly, we will make a concrete analysis about the two different rational spirits respectively through the life experiences, the culture ideology of the writers to make clear how they expressed them in the works. Besides it, we also take a look at what kind of mutual interactions between two different rational spirits and put the point on finding the trend of the essay in it.At the end of the thesis, we would come to conclusions about the characteristic of the rational spirits for the essay works in 'Isolated Island' so we can get a relatively precise position and significance in the process of the Chinese modern essay writing. |
