This thesis discusses the prefaces and postscripts for poetry anthology in Tang Dynasty from the following five aspects. Introduction presents the previous researchers' study on the prefaces and postscripts for poetry anthology and the significance in the aspects of edition, historical data, poetic materials in Tang Dynasty, etc. Chapter one is a whole presentation: the quantity of the writings, format, classification of contents, features, function of spread, etc. Chapter two discovers the connotation and the unceasingly developing history of several poetic aesthetic categories such as vigor of style, rhythm and fusion of setting and feeling reflected in the prefaces and postscripts. Chapter three draws the outline of the development course of the poetic views and poetic thoughts of the writers in Tang Dynasty, which can be divided into three period of times: from neglecting the vigorous style to the emphasis on the vigor of style in early Tang Dynasty; giving consideration to the rhythm and vigor of style at the same time in the prosperous period of Tang Dynasty ; the poetic thoughts split up in the middle and late Tang Dynasty. Chapter four focuses on the standard of choosing poems mentioned in the prefaces of the selected works in Tang Dynasty and exhibits objectively the track of poetic aesthetic vogue fluidness: during the prosperous period of Tang Dynasty, Yin fan upholds the combination of vigor of style and rhythm; during the mid-Tang, Yuan Jie advocates with refined taste the sprit of The Book of Songs; by the late Tang Dynast, the beauty in form is pursued and it is extensively comprehensive. Chapter five summarizes the artistic technique of expression in the prefaces and postscripts for poetry anthology in Tang Dynasty, and generalizes its aesthetic features: the flexible writing approaches; the variety of characters; talking about the real feelings and denoting penetrating judgment; discussing people and the world, commenting works and articles; combining description with argument, full of great technicality; the "poetic world" made by the unification of broad realism and intense lyricism.
