Research On Early Chinese Modern Poetry Anthologies’ Prefaces And Postscripts

Prefaces and postscripts link up creation, criticism, theory and history. They are refer to both macroscopic times and individual psychology. They are important material in literature study. Research achievements about Chinese ancient prefaces and postscripts are already plentiful and thorough. However, in Chinese modern and contemporary literature research, except for someone collect part of such documents, academia just pays attention to individual pieces and individual writers’ prefaces and postscripts, but neglects study on a kind of anthologies or a period’s prefaces and postscripts.This paper’s main research object is Chinese modern poetry anthologies’ prefaces, postscripts, opening words, appendix, inscription and so on from 1920 to 1923. It also researches some related documents, such as the press, letters, diaries, and memeries. The paper’s author looked for earliest versions as references as far as possible, in order to return to literature scene at that time.Above all, the paper compares early Chinese modern poetry anthologies’ prefaces and postscripts with other Chinese anthologies’ prefaces and postscripts, so that discovering the former’s genre individuality and analysing reasons. What’s more, the paper also focuses on relationship of eatly poets. It compares early Chinese modern poetry anthologies’ prefaces and postscripts with the press, letters, diaries and other documents at the same term, so that discovering differences between them and correcting prejudice on problem of relationship of poets at that time. Finally, many parts of the paper discusses poetics contribution that early Chinese modern poetry anthologies’prefaces and postscripts give us. Because shifty history narration has veiled and smeared vein of Chinese modern poetry development, it is necessary to observe and study origination state of Chinese modern poetry again. Such observation and study is also benefit to resolve many poetics perpexities in present research. The paper discovers that early Chinese modern poetry anthologies’prefaces and postscripts can give us poetics contribution in three aspects at least. Firstly, they tell us something special in the aspect of creation of Chinese modern poetry. Secondly, they summarize controversy history of early Chinese modern poetry to some extent. Thirdly, they are benefit to fill in gaps and revise stale theses in research on the problem of Chinese modern poetry’s starting point.
