Eighties Ideology Shrouded In History

Historiography in 1980s plays a connecting part between the preceding and the following part in its development of the latest fifty years. On the one hand, it is still ideological; on the other, it develops new contents of the historiography of the "new time", and provides a basis for the historiography in 1990s,even in new century. Historiography of this period has its distinct time character, but it is a pity that the research on it is few because of its present character. On the base of the forerunners' researches, this article intends to review and examine the historiography of this period from the perspective of the change of study subjects.It is composed of three parts:The introduction discourses approximately from three aspects : 1,academic values and social meanings of this period's historiography study ;2, a review from the academy history's perspectives of this period's historiography study; 3, the rationality of researching from the angle of "study subject ", this paper's research approach, fundamental hypothesis and narrative clues, and so on.The body includes three chapters:Chapter 1 recounts the background of the transition of the 1980s'historiography study subject, including the 1980s'social backgrounds, social ethos and two important controversies about "dynamical problem of history progress" and "history creator problem", especially emphasizing their ideological tropism.Chapter 2 discourses the transition of the historiography study subject in the ideological air of the 1980s and points out the reflections to historiography is subject to the reflections to history in the period, embodying a distinct ideological characteristic. This chapter expounds it from four aspects: 1, putting forward the subject of anti-feudalism(the heating discuss about the long-term stability of Chinese feudality ); 2, lucubrating this subject (the deepening research of the peasantry war history ); 3, the transition of the subject from anti-feudalism to anti-tradition(the revival of the culture history study); 4, advancing the problem of the modernization (the shift of emphases in modern and contemporary history study);Chapter 3 reveals positivism tropism of the historiography study in the ideological air of 1980s. In the early days of 1980s, this tropism grew and spread into a trend of thought, but is doomed to be criticized and evanescent dew to the special conditions in 1980s. However, in the late of 1980s, social history induced by all kinds of factors revived, not just to be banging the drum and empty theories, but insisting on positive tropism at the beginning. Finally the contrast of two styles of study between in 1980s and in 1990s, shows academic study became the mainstream of 1990s' historiography study.Conclusion can be drawn in the epilogue that ideological subject study occupied a principal part, but pure academic study sprouts in the ideological air of 1980s. The ebb and flow of the two streams forms a significant feature of the transition of history study in 1990s. Ideologization in history study is not completely negative and harmful, but essential and indispensable. Harmonious development and interaction between the ideological study and academic study is the perfect state of historiography.
