Among the achievements of the case study of Hongshou Chen in the academe during the past decades, it seems that the study about the origin of form of painting has been an "older-fashioned" theme. On the one hand, the so-called "older-fashioned" means people have begun this kind of study a few decades ago, which is still being discussed now. On the other hand, most of the investigations are hackneyed and stereotyped. This thesis tries to bring forward some questions in three aspects, and then demonstrate them, with the updated methods of investigation in the current academe. First, it discusses, in another point of view, how Hongshou Chen studied and transformed the languages of form of the former artists. And then, it creatively puts forward and demonstrates how the "atlas of ancient ware" came to be the inspiration of Hongshou Chen's "chuangge (creation of formula)". At last, it clarifies the history of culture in the view of art sociology, and discusses how the "shuxue (study in private school)" and "xinxue (study with heart)" were turned into the internal spirit of freedom of the artist, and then became the dynamical spring of creation.It's true, that any analysis of theory or effort to illustrate the formation of an artist's style of form is doomed to be difficult to suppose subjectively. The trouble does not only lie in that the formation was derived from the assimilation of traditional formula of painting, the experience of life conditions, the influence of cultural thoughts, and the complex effects of one another; but even more important, the so-called "chuangge", which was from the inherent need of the artist, and was related to the nature, talent and destiny of the artist So, all the demonstrations are to mobilize the relative resources and meet with their nature to the greatest extent. And that, this thesis is just trying to probe deeply into the formation of Hongshou Chen' s "chuangge", through the study of the origin of Hongshou Chen's form of painting, exerting synthetically the methods of image psychology, art sociology, art stylistic, fine arts archaeology and philology etc. Also, it tries to deduct the conjunction and...
