Cenozoic canvas is an art form which comes from individualideology, experiences the chaos of novel art, and then returns into life. This paperstarts with the relationship of life and Cenozoic canvas. The backgroud and thecharacter of the cenozoic are introduced, the representative painters and their worksare studied. Further more, the impact and the significance of the cenozoic canvas areillustrated. In part one, "I" means Cenozoic painters who have individual thought. Thehistory backgroud of cenozoic canvas coming into being and its influence to paintingstyles are discussed through their two periods of life--"childhood" and "campustime".Cenozoic painters spent their childhood and part of juvenile stage in theInstitutional Revolution. This unusual nonage experience made many painters'personality peculiar, and finally resulted in the forming of art style –cynicism, shrewishness and Jocosity. The more he experienced the more intensely he expressed.Their campus time was in 1980s after the reform and openning policyimplemented. The ideology swarming from overseas had profound impacts on ourCenozoic painters. They abandoned the meanning of life, which made them begin toview all the surrounding existent phenomenon fairly, and discover the richness. Andthey bagan to take great effort to painting those things from life they felt "have fun"and "have no fun", using the tone of calmness, impersonality, and even jocosity,slef-mockery.In part two, since cenozoic canvas is prone to be recarded as a back torealism—back to life, and back to realistic painting, the differences and relationsbetween cenozoic and traditional realistic canvas are discussed, which incarnates thecenozoic canvas' characteristic. It is an exhibition of them living with sincere emotionand a disguised form of respect to realism. In part three, cenozoic canvas' style and characters are exhibited through theseaspects as follows: life fragments, odour in the paint, and narcissism.Every cenozoic canvas has its own features of painting manner and style. Mostcenozoic painters like to depict fragments in daily life, and often choose their intimatefriends and familiar locuses. Jocosity and shrewishness is expressed by the odour inthe paint. Compared to the traditional canvases, cenozoic painters' own images ismuch more likely to appear in their works. Female painters like ShenLing,ChenShuxia etc.see the surrounding world through their unique feminal angle of view. Finally, it indicates that in the development of Chinese canvas, cenozoic canvasis a little dazzling transitional art form in the transformation of literature at the end oftwentieth century. Its emergence implies a new turning point of painting gusto, andalso symbolizes the painting creations entering into a new era.
