Although after the five dynasties the characteristics in the Cenozoic of Chinese movie are not as uniform as what the fourth generation and the fifth generation have relatively. In more than fifty unique movies what they created we still have been able to discover some common esthetics characteristics at present from them. For example the Cenozoic is called to "the generation in a city " because of aiming at the city. It not only presents the color of the realism and the author movie because of expressing the daily life condition and the youth experience but also has bold innovation and conscious utilization in the narrative way and the lens language and so on. The formation of these characteristics is closely bound up with their personal experience, artistic nutrition, and the time of the Cenozoic directors.In the Introduction, first the author points out that it is possible to sum up the esthetics characteristics to the Cenozoic movie. Next this article writing angle, the mentality as well as some questions to be solved which the author proposes are based on the research conditions of the Cenozoic movie. The author also explains the concept of"the Cenozoic"and makes a limit of it.In Part One, the author summarizes the esthetics characteristics of Cenozoic movie from four aspects including the theme, the subject, the narration and also the lens language, namely, attention to the city space and the urban fringe characters, recovering for daily life and the youth with anxious, narrating in the sectional structure and openness way, movie technique for using long lens paragraph and shooting on-the-spot-record as well as pasting and deconstructing.In Part Two, the author mainly analyzes the reasons for their formation from a microscopic and a macroscopic aspect. From the microscopic aspect the growth experience of Cenozoic directors and the rich absorbing artistic nutrition are analyzed. From the macroscopic aspect the environment of movie manufacture during Conversion period and the complex socio-cultural environment at that time are also discussed. In the Conclusion, the author summaries the valuable endeavor as well as the significance, the value and the limitation which the Cenozoic movie makes.
