Marxism has gained many honors and criticism from many theorists after its birth. Rostow is one critic. He once wrote a works in 1960, subtitled "A Non-communist Manifesto". Rostow puts forward his "criticism "to Marx .But I think it is a misunderstanding to Marx. For example, Marx' early and later theories are treated separately; Marx' socialism and Lenin's are mixed together without differentiation. The main purpose of this article is to study comparatively theories of motive and developing route between Marx and Rostow. three parts to analyze it as follows:In the first part, Marx' early and later theories are treated separately. Then Rostow just criticizes Marx' early points. I think Marx's theories are unanimous, the difference is that Marx and Engels just lay special emphasis on different part in different years. In the second part, we do research comparatively on the modernistic theory of undeveloped countries, as what motivate us to modernize our states and social, economic, political, cultural changes in this course. In the end, we study comparatively Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Rostow's points about Russian development. In the third part, we study why their theories are so different. I think the reason is that, Marx belongs to Marxism, showing internationalism, revolutional inclination and mass conception of history. On the other hand, Rosrow is a liberalist, showing nationalism, reformism and heroic conception of history.
