Links Piano Works Played Historical Way

In the 19 century, the transformation of piano music style took place. With the mature of piano, performance on it began to isolated from composing on it. The 78 volumes of piano exercises, created by Carl Czerny at that time, played an important role in piano history. Here, we focus on his 18 piano exercises to illustrate their outstanding effect in the field of piano.In this essay, based on the historical background of these piano exercises, we argue on the generation, features and meaning of them. Also, there are still some statements of the relationship between keyboard music art in different era and these exercises. It shows how these various levels of exercises developed the popularity of piano and uplift the historical position of piano.
