In the middle of Tang dynasty that Han yu lived. Taoism and Buddhism were powerful, but Confucianism withered. In order to protect the traditional Chinese culture, revive the Tao of K'ung Tzu and Mecius, Han yu suggested a series of thoughts on ethics according to his theory about how to see the world, and these thoughts were base of his Confucianism. In this thesis, I have studied Han Yu's idea about the world, his ethic thoughts and the relations between them, according to the following three aspects. First, Han Yu thought the Heaven was a God who controled the people's fate, and the emperor was sent to rule the people by God. So the authority of the emperor was given by the God, and the emperor's rule was correct. Second, Han Yu thought the human nature was given when he was born, everyone had his own talent, so everyone must learn and foster constantly in his life to perfect his human nature. However ,he thought the highest and the human nature couldn't be changed at all.Third, Han Yu thought the sage created the society, and the sage created the Tao of Coufucian at the same time to make the sociaty develop too. So it was great different between the Two of HanYu and the Tao of K'ung Tzu and Mecius.Though he played an important role in reviving the Tao of K'ung Tzu and Mecius,he couldn't deeply understand the radical problem about the thought of K'ung Tzu and Mecius so that he couldn't really carry on and develop the essence of Confucian doctrines on the ethic thoughts. But, his ethic thoughts have important place in the history of Confucianism, and have great influence to the "Li"school of Song-ming. It have a function of inherit the past and usher in the future.
