The Sage is an important category of Confucian philosophy.It is the moral cultivation and the pursuit of the highest state of personality.What saints are,whether saints are available and how to be sanctified,is an important question that Confucian scholars have been discussing for thousands of years.Since the Pre-Qin Dynasty,Confucian scholars gradually lost the true spirit of Confucius and Mencius thought in the study of saints,and because of the rising of the Taoist Theory and Buddhism,so that the problem of Confucian saints appear decline.In the Northern Song Dynasty,Zhang Zai laid the foundation of the Song-Ming Neo-Confucianism,which was based on the idea of "the life of the world,the longevity of the ancient people","the sacrifice of Confucius and Mencius." It has a great impaction on the development of Confucianism.On the basis of inheriting the view of Confucius and Mencius,the Sage view of Zhang Zai creatively put forward the concept of "sage-learning" by reinterpreting Confucian classics and integrating Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism.He takd "the principle of harmony between man and nature" as the basic principle,the"prerequisite of Qi" as the logical premise,and the "the human nature as the hinge".Through the way of " To establish a set of holy views into the system.The sage personality that he shaped,has the characteristics of learning to the law,the law of the day,to the virtual,benevolence and unity,and that scholars can change the temperament,poor and rational approach to achieve the saint realm.Zhang Zai 's concept of sage is clear and rich in contents,which is great significance to the perfection of contemporary education.
