Starting from the overall state of oil painting in China during its development in the past 100 years, this thesis discusses that early Chinese oil painters advocated the idea of combining Chinese art and western art together when they were learning western painting. Through analyzing the characteristics of some important painters' oil painting works and the quality of imagery showing by Chinese oil painting, this thesis wants to find out the causes of this phenomenon, and have found that its growth depends on the background of Chinese culture, and there is a complicated relationship between the unique expressing way of this kind of painting and the spirit of traditional Chinese art. This thesis also makes a further exposition on the value and meaning of Chinese painting's tendency of showing a quality of imagery under the circumstance of globalization today.
