Photography shaped in the 1830s. Since then, continuous progress has been made in its technological aspect and now it becomes an indispensable part of our lives. Photography had great influence on painting since its occurrence and expedited the development of contemporary painting. Although figures were given up by contemporary artists, lansigns in photography were borrowed. Photography gave an great impetus to the development of the style and genre of modernistic painting and vice versa. Photography was developed from pictorialism and elements of painting, such as composition of a picture and shade and shadow, were absorbed by photography. The techniques of handling photographs employed by contemporary photographers have many similarities with the art of contemporary painting. After World War II, many elements in photography were extensively employed in painting or even totally accepted by painting. Photography and painting like milk mingling with water and can not survive without each other. Lansigns of photography in several possible conditions were analyzed and summarized in the paper and the employment of elements in photography to painting, especially the elements used by contemporary artist were discussed. The effects of photography on contemporary Chinese artist were also discussed in the paper. All efforts were made for the sake of artistic creation...
