Susan Sontag’s critiques on photography include three levels: critiques on the essence of the photographic image, critiques on the relationship between the photographer and photographic subjects, critiques on the relationship between the viewer and the photographer.By comparing with Baudelaire, Benjamin, John Burke and Roland Barthes’ critiques on photography, we can found Sontag’s theory originality and limitations. Photographic images are everywhere, and this will deeply affect the people’s cognitive model and exercise a great influence on literature. However, literature will not die out, but will inspire new vitality. |
