The Czech composer Leos Janacek (1854—1928) is often well known for his piano pieces, among which On the Overgrown Path and In the Mist have become two representative ones in his limited piano works. Owing to their belonging to the titled piano pieces on genre, they all contain more clear-cut musical images. As an outstanding composer of national music school in Czech, Janacek has consciously adopted a multitude of elements, which includes the folk songs, dance music and instrumental performance etc., into his musical creation and thereby formed his own unique piano music style. This thesis makes an emphatic analysis on the musical contents, the musical images, the methods of creation, the characteristics of musical forms and the keynotes of performance of Janacek' s these two piano pieces. It is believed that the research on these aspects would have a significant revelatory effect to those performers who want to make a profound understanding and have an accurate explanation of Janacek' s piano works. |
