The cultural industry is an emerging industry, which is playing increasingly important roles in the economic development of respective countries. The development of a nation's cultural industry relies on both the domestic and the international market. Therefore we should not only develop an international-oriented economy, but also an international-oriented culture. In today's global environment, we shall reconsider the development path and mode of the Chinese cultural industry. In this essay, I explore the strategy for developing an international-oriented cultural industry in China in the globalization process. In the first part, I define the two core concepts of"cultural industry"and"international-oriented cultural strategy", and emphasize the importance of developing an international-oriented cultural industry. In the second part, I summarize the development condition of the Chinese cultural industry and our performance in the world cultural stage. In the third part, I analyze China's cultural industry environment and point out some opportunities and challenges. In the fourth part, I provide a few successful case studies, giving some good examples of developing international-oriented culture and spreading Chinese culture abroad, with the purpose of directing the right path for spreading Chinese culture worldwide. Developing an international-oriented culture is an important strategy of the Chinese cultural industry. As the Chinese science and economy develops, the Chinese cultural industry has to keep on reforming, creating new brands, grasping new opportunities, using new means, and learning from successful international cultural groups, to better spread the splendid culture of China to the rest of the world.
