Due to the lack of research on the story patterns of Senior Sir's works, the current thesis attempts tosolve the following issues through the study on the story-telling patterns of his works on the basis of theformer scholars research results. First, what are the main story-telling patterns and what are the forms ofthem among the writers works. Second, what are the strategies that the writer used in controlling thecharacters and the affairs to affect the progress of the stories. Third, what are the relations among thestory-telling patterns, the writer's personality, his ideology, his historical position, etc. and the relations tohis personal life orbit as well. The first part has to do with the generalization and analysis of story patterns and exploration of thewriter's various states of worries appeared in his works. Senior Sir began to hold two responsibilities afterhe entered the society, that is, to destroy the old and establish the new. As a result, his works presents thetwo major patterns: One is the worry about the social being (it refers to human being and society as well). The writer presented the bad habits and long-standing abuse that were really existed but overlooked by thepeople. What is mentioned above called the negation pattern. Two states can be separated from this: one isthe negation to the bad which is realized by name/entity—appearance mode; another is the negation to theterror, undergoing under the thought/practice—advocating practice mode. The other is the worry of thefuture (again it refers to human being, nation and society). The writer tried to tell the public the not yetwide-spread possibilities by means of text. What is mentioned above called the pattern of struggling history. The struggling history is classified into four stages: the starting-point—negation/exploration mode, theprocess—exploration/setback mode the favorable turn—setback/success mode, the end—being martyr mode. The second part is concerned about the analyses of how the stories were constructured and narrated soas to how the writer's worries immerged in the text. The construction of the stories is analyzed in terms ofthe character strategy, the event strategy and the situation strategy. In the character strategy, the authormainly analyzes the "tieing the stake"—the strategy of character selection, "brothers"—the strategy ofcharacter employment, "family heritage"—the strategy of emphasis. In the event strategy the author mainlyanalyzes "fact- manage-character" and "character-lead-fact"—the strategy of selection,addition/certainty—the strategy of usage. In the situation strategy the author mainly analyzes the"defamilialization" strategy and the "modeling" strategy. However, when dealing with the narration of story, the author mainly analyzes the perspectives, the main body of narration and the identity of the narrator andtheir functions in the narration of stories. In concrete, the "human" as a clue—the strategy of standing pointof view, the somewhat hidden and somewhat appeared—the strategy of the narration main body. By meansof the above strategies, the structure of the stories pe se and the state of being expressed is well managed.Hence, the writer succeeded in integrating his own thoughts and feelings into the characters and conveying to the readers. The third part deals with the relations between the writer and these story-telling patterns and thereasons why he was in such a favour of these patterns. The writer showed his worries all his life, which ismanifested by the many aspects of contradictions of himself. The thesis analyses Senior Sir's "care abouthis country and his people" and "obedience to the overall situation and individual independence" which arethe two great contradictions from the perspective of involving in the historical mission. In doing this, thesource of the writer's worries are further explored. The shadow of the individual memory, the nationalmemory and the country's memory caused the psychological contradiction of the writer's sense ofinferiority and sense of confidence, behind which exists the contradiction between the nationalidentification of culturism and the national identification of nationalism. In the final analysis it is thewriter's worry about his nation and country' identification and future. Comparatively, the thesis alsoanalyses the ways of how the writer went beyond his worries. One is Mother's model, that is, theindependence regarding identification (make every effort to one's business). The other is Zong Yue's model, that is, complete kindness towards others (never conceal any tricks to others). After the analyses of thesesources, the metaphorical relations between the writer's story-telling patterns and his whole life areanalyzed as well.Through the analyses of his story-telling patterns, the main forms, the management strategies and thespiritual sources of the writer's life-long creation are seen and a unique "Senior Sir's World" is seen aswell.
