Qin Ballads is one part of The fifteen Ballads in The Book of Songs, its distinctive stylistic character makes it a special part in The Book of Songs. But systematic study about it is very insufficient. In the view of the fact mentioned above, the thesis is trying to make an overall, systematic and thorough study on Qin Ballads. The thesis is composed of four parts. The first part is the interpretations about Qin Ballads that have been made by the representative Confucian classicists during the successive Dynasties. It is composed of four stages: 1. From West Han Dynasty to Tang Dynasty. The Confucian classicists of Han Dynasty interpreted Qin Ballads from either praise or criticize perspective. The Confucian classicists from Wei to Jin Dynasty made little success. The Confucian classicists from Tang Dynasty sanctified the traditions of the interpretations in Han Dynasty and achieved a great success. 2. From Song Dynasty to Yuan Dynasty. The characteristic of the interpretations of Song Dynasty were censuring Mao Xu and clarifying idealist philosophy. The Confucian classicists from Yuan Dynasty followed the point of Shi Ji Zhuan of Zhu Xi. 3. Ming Dynasty. The Confucian classicists followed Zhu Xi's point in the early stage of Ming Dynasty. The Confucian classicists could appreciate and interpret Qin Ballads fromliterature perspective in the middle and late stage of Ming Dynasty. 4. Qing Dynasty. The Confucian classicists appreciated both points of Han Dynasty and Song Dynasty in the early stage of Qing Dynasty. In the middle stage of Qing Dynasty, the Confucian classicists can be differentiated into two groups: the text research group and the creative thinking group. The former paid attention to exegetical studies and the latter tried to remove from the traditional interpretations and made many original views. The characteristic of the Confucian classicists in the late stage of Qing Dynasty is the revival of the school of Jinwen Confucian with its character of profound meaning between lines and its aim of developing the whole society. The second part is the study of Qin Ballads from the perspective of Society. The ten ballads told us that the politics played a very important role in the whole country after the retrospect of the history of Yingqin Ethnic and the country of Qin. We can also make a conclusion that the country experienced a drastic change from harmony to feud. The third part is the study of Qin Ballads from the perspective of Culture. We discuss the influences brought by Rongdi culture and ritual culture of Zhou Dynasty. The former included military spirit, the excellent shooting, the hunting skill and the developed economic of animal husbandry while the latter included vehicles, horses, banquet, hunting, pilgrimage, visits, award, funerals, diet and so forth. The fourth part is the study of Qin Ballads from the perspective of Literature. There are both toughness and softness styles in Qin Ballads. The toughness style reflected gallant spirit while the softness style exhibited delicate connotation. The distinctive stylistic character resulted from the various and skilled literature means .
