This paper selects the style of Xuwei's calligraphy and painting as the topic. The first part of the paper mainly describes the current researching state of Xuwei's art, in addition telling the method of study here in the paper. Xuwei was an important artist in Chinese Ming Dynasty. The comparative study of the style of Xuwei's works will play an important role in present scholar circle. The second part discusses Xuwei's life and artistic characteristic of his works, which set the base for the further study of his style. The last one treats the clues of Xuwei's touring and artistic creation, and try to make a conclusion that Xuwei's artistic style coming from his understanding and recognition to Chinese calligraphy spirit. The main destination of this paper is to set an order of comparative study for Xuwei's works of calligraphy and ink painting, from which we could observe the relationship of social history in later Ming Dynasty.
