Along with the development of society, mass media displays a more and more important status in modern life, the relationship between mass media and politic also becomes closer. In various historical periods, the political function that mass media exerts is not the same. As a huge country, the evolvement of media in America is worth to pay attention a fortiori. Especially in the period of 1960s, kinds of political movements as one fell, another rose in the home country, while American Amy bogged down in Vietnam War outside, and at the backside of the situation, mass media played an unparalleled role by support of new electronic techniques.The whole article takes the aspect of political communication science. In the first chapter, it summarizes the crics and social functions of American main media in 1960s; in the second chapter, taking the changes between mass media and American President Lyndon Johnson for example, we analyse the reasons for the changes; in the third chapter, it states the characteristics of political function's aggrandizement of 1960s' American mass media, moreover analyses the reasons and educes the viewpoint.
