Chinese painting art and the western one, falling two different discourse system, vary greatly in form-shaping conception, aesthetic sense and expression craft, which result from the different historical, geographic, and cultural background. With the new artistic conception in the new era, the communication and mutual complement of the Sino-western artistic systems focus on the Chinese traditional ink painting technique and modern western form-shaping craft. Those exchanges are bound to produce the evolution of painting to both parts with the historic development. The diversity in form-shaping conception and expression craft is a major contributing factor for the different Sino-western painting arts .The thesis makes a contrastive research between Chinese painting and the western one. Through the analysis form-shaping conceptions and crafts of the two parts, it argues the differences in form-shaping with the purpose to clear up the similarities and diversities of the two painting arts and to foresee the development trend of each part. The acquisition of the regularity which yields the similarities and differences is helpful to recognize the features of Chinese and western painting art, to establish the aesthetic criteria from Chinese perspective, and to stick to the proper view of "harmonious while different" and to put the relevant theories into the artistic practice.
