Zheng-Han Gucheng is one of the famous capitals in Eastern Zhou Period, located in the juncture of ShuangJi and HuangShui river, around the area of XinZheng town HenNan province. It was established by Zheng State in Spring and Autumn Period, and Han State moved its capital here after replace of Zheng State. Through nearly 43 years of remitting efforts in the archaeological exploration and excavation of this capital, archaeologists have achieved abundant academic accomplishments and obtained rather broad and profound knowledge of its layout and form. On the basis of forefathers' research, the paper attempts to do primary study of Zheng-Han Gucheng, combining with archaeological datum. The paper is divided into four parts.Preface is the first Section. The author explains briefly the meaning of the subject, the present situation of academic research, and the creative points as well as the realistic values.In Section II, the author wants to introduce the cultural relics of Zhang State and Han State in Zheng-Han Gucheng. This part mainly describes the capitals' plane form and layout of Zhang State and Han State, such as elementary instruments, palace sites, ceremony and propriety buildings, market and residential areas, handcraft workshops, graveyards and so on. In the latter, the paper carries on the initial research of other relative questions. This part concludes Chapter I and II. Moreover, the author compares capital of Han State in Xinzheng with its other capitals by comprehensive and comparative research.Section III, is also chapter III. Through the study of relative questions about Zheng-Han Gucheng and the comparison of the difference and identity both capitals of Zheng and Han, author inquires into the reason. Comparing with other capital-sites of Eastern Zhou Period, the author sums up the characteristics of Zheng-Han Gucheng.Section IV is the conclusion of the paper. In this section, the author summarizes achievements of the investigation, and describes form and layout of Zheng and Han state.
