Folk song is one of the most representative, cosmopolitan components in China. As a form of traditional culture which has a powerful life, folk song is always with the development of times and shows freshness. It has a lot of changes in our society since the end of 1970s in twenty century. Through economical system to social transfer, colourful material life to multiplex of spiritual life, it makes great change both in people'life and thoughts along with lots of thoughts in economic and culture entering our country. Culture also faces to transformation. Because of the transfer of society and its own aesthetic rule, folk song in the contemporary times shows the different aesthetic characteristics from traditional folk song. This paper tries to conclude the aesthetic characteristics of new folk song, analyzes the reasons through the phenomena and compares with original folk song with the academic help of contemporary aesthetic culture and musical esthetics.
