This article studies the object of QI JI, Who is the representative character of Tang Five Generation's poem-monks.In the overlapping domain of the Buddhism and the literature, the troop of monks, who are also poets, had grown larger than before. It was an unique phenomena in the Chinese history of literature. Since long ago the scholars had their eyes on the research of Wang Fanzhi,Han Shan,Jiao Ran and Guan Xiu. Qi Ji had been ignored by the scholars. This article select Qi Ji as the research object of Tang Five Generation's poem-monks. According to Qi Ji's life of writing, We hope to make a description of him objectively and accurately.This article divides into three parts:The first part, It includes the introduction of Qi Ji's biography and thoughts .Qi Ji's biography records are fragmentary and disorderly, even be in conflict with each other. We examine Qi Ji's biography by observing his poems and historical materials about him. Qi Ji entered TongQing temple when he was a child. He accepted WeiYang Buddhism. The thoughts of Buddhism were full of his whole life. At the same time, Qi Ji read lots of books. He was influenced by the thoughts of Ru and Dao inevitably. It was in concordance with Ru thoughts of paying attentions to the reality for the confucianist and Dao thoughts of travelling and freedom.The second part, It deserves Qi Ji's《Bai Lian Ji》specifically. It carries on more comprehensive analysis on Qi Ji's creation. Qi Ji wrote a lot of poems over other poem-monks in the whole Tang Dynasty. As a monk, Qi Ji's poems fill with"Shu Sun Qi",It's main characters are"Qing"and"Ku". Moreover, Qi Ji's poetry style shows"Guai".The third part, It discusses Qi Ji's poetry theory. Qi Ji had many poetry theories. For example, he suggests that writing should be full of FengSao, which means face to reality. What's more, the thoughts of poem are unseen. At last, He suggests the poetry style should be true and mature. On the view of Qi Ji's creation, in order to get together the way of Shi and Chan , he was trying his best to solve the conflicts between them .
