Basing on the methods of description, contrast and induction in translation and combing the contemporary translation theory and experiences at home and abroad, we decide the range of research in the thesis: studying the translated versions of the Song of the Youth which was translated from Chinese into Korean in Yanbian, China in 1950s, DPRK in 1960s and the Republic of Korea in 1980s. By the comparison of the three versions in different cases, we draw the following conclusion:The versions of the Song of the Youth were not simply the translation in words, but through the literary and political point of view, which met the literary and political needs in the each country. All the three different versions successfully achieved the goal of translation and all completed the specific historical mission. The version in the Republic of Korea was mainly influenced by the ideas of translation in western countries which free translation and assimilation were widely used, and the culture of the Republic of Korea during that time is reflected in this version. The versions in Yanbian and DPRK were mainly influenced by the ideas of translation in the Soviet Union which word-for-word translation and dissimilation were used, and the Chinese literary and culture are reflected in these versions. The literary versions are influenced by the culture of that time, on the contrary, the versions can embody the culture. By comparing the three different versions, we come to know the historical, political and cultural relationship among the three areas. The current thesis consists of four chapters.Chapter 1 is introduction, which gives a sketch of what the current paper is going to discuss, that is, the objective of the thesis, the methodology it adopts and the organization of the thesis.Chapter 2 is the cultural environment of the novel's creation and translation.
