This paper focuses on the study of the early impressionism art market (1871-1912). Through exploring the background of the art market, the art work circulation process in the market, and the role of artists, art dealers and art collectors in forming the market, this paper tries to present a relative comprehensive scene of the establishment and development of the early impressionism art market.Case study is one important method of art administration, which is also suitable and necessary to the study of art market. This paper tries to conduct detailed analysis on representative art dealers and art collectors during this market period, intending to conclude the general art market situation from these typical examples. The art market study is an interdisciplinary, which involves the study methods of other disciplines, such as economics and management. Therefore, these methods are also useful to this paper. For example, during the analysis of art price, many diagrams are used.The main discussion subject of this paper is art dealers and art collectors in the early market. From the analysis of their business strategies and the art work price at that moment, this paper intends to present the change of market situation. The international trend of impressionism art collection is also included in this paper, which is rarely mentioned and study in previous relevant studies.
