The paper analyzes the reasons of the success of Pablo Picasso. Differently from the previous relevant studies, most of which focus on Picasso's artistic creation, this paper is to observe the various activities of Picasso around the "art market"(for example, auctions, exhibitions, art dealers' events, etc.). Through this, we could find out that these market-relevant activities not only directly led to the rise of the artists' art work price, but also indirectly caused the establishment of public reputation, the enhancement of career development, and eventually, the achievement of remarkable success for the artist.Through exploring the market condition of the time Picasso lived, and the artist's personal art market experience and strategies, especially conducting detailed case study on the market activities between Picasso and "THE SKIN OF THE BEAR" Association, and D .H. Kahnweiler, this paper tries to establish a link between market and the artist career, to research the possibility that market can be used as a way to let an artist achieve success, to finally come to the conclusion that market can play a positive role in promoting the artist career.
