From The Life And Death In Different Artistic Personality Of The Chi Li And Fang Fang

ChiLi and FangFang are both representative figures of the neo-realism. Because of having a lot in common, people always mention them in the same breath. However, they are superficial resemblame. And if we make an in-depth analysis, we will find that the fact is nowhere near as real as people's imagination. This thesis tries to make the view of life and death as the point of penetration. By the contrastive analysis of ChiLi and FangFang's works, I will explore the individe of ChiLi and FangFang's artistic individuality on view of life and death.The first part: analysing the different thoughts of ChiLi and FangFang on view of life and death. ChiLi praises highly of those people who are living tenaciously and dauntlessly. No matter how hard the life is, her hero or heroine lives actively and optimisticly. We see the hope in exhausted situation from that kind of firm and tenacious life force. But we still find a regret. That is people always give up fighting because of the thought: contentment brings happiness. The life of FangFang's hero or heroine is always painful and distort and the death stands for the eternal peace and happiness. The different thoughts of life and death must effect the two writers'works. So there are many differences between their works.The second part: discussing the two writers'explanation on love. From ChiLi's works, we know the evolution on her view of love: persue love, does not talk about love and return to love. Though FangFang says she takes a pessimistic view of love, from her works we will find she takes a persevering believe of love. Her works try to discuss the relationship between death and love and put love in front of death. And then the death will reveal the value and preciousness of love.The third part: contrasting the two writers'discription of the same city life. ChiLi takes a full positive view of secular life which is full of material desire and people's positive persuit of secular happy life. Her works give us a show of the upstarts who live as if drunk or dreaming which is satisfied those plebeians'desire of knowing the gorgeous life and the psychology of seeking novelty and strving for ornate diction. These works help her own a lot of readers. At the same time, because of the normal and feeble significance, her works are common. On the contrary, FangFang describes lots of diseased phenomenon and pointes out the disgusting sociaty and the weakness of humanity. She gives us a picture of collapsing in disorder of affairs of the world. She wields a trenchant pen and shows the intense ridicule and criticism.The fourth part: explaining the different view on intellectual of these two writers. ChiLi'works advertise a kind of survival philosophy. Her standard of judging a person is his survival ability. So, those intellectual who are lack of survival wisdom and living ability become her object of ridicule and scoff. And these show that ChiLi does not know the intellectual and has stereotyped opinious. FangFang"uses her heart and blood"â‘ to describe the intellectual. The whole 20 centuries is her background. She shows the style and form of the intellectual of China. The whole image of the intellectual forms a history of life and spirit.The fifty part: analysing the different values of these two writers: stand on the side of the townspeople or the intellectual. ChiLi sees herself as a"plebeians", expressing the significance of secular life to those normal townspeople by holding a real equal mental attitude and the same angle of view, showing their feelings, love and destiny are moulded by everyday life, showing the tenacious and dauntless spirit which is covered by those normal and trivial desire. Her role of common people makes her has partiality for common people and is limited by this. She ignores to criticize common people's deep-rooted bad habit and has some emotion of anti-reason. FangFang always sees herself as a intellectual and insists on writing for her innermost being. Even though the theme is the poor, her position does not change. She examines closely and sticks to the real life which is run-down day by day. She sticks to the pure and good survival dream. Her works is far from"fasion"and are estranged and keep apart from the readers. So they are not popular in the market. But in the literal circle, people appreciate her works.
