| Tu-Hua Jian-Wen Zhi was written by Guo Ruo-xu in Song dynasty. It includes six chapters and covers from the end of Tang to the middle of Song. The first of his six chapters is devoted to a discussion of various general aspects of the art. The next three chapters discuss hundreds of painters, in individual paragraphs of widely varying lengths. The last two present a series of descriptions or anecdotes about well-known masters, or collectors, or themes. The paper is divided into three parts. It researches the experiences and careers of the author, some methods of writing, the theories of the art. and the material resources of the book. |
