Anhui College Of Art And Design Education Status And Development Strategies

This thesis, resting on such means as related literature review, questionnaire, expert interviews, statistics and logical reasoning, researches into the present art design education in Anhui Universities. This study indicates that, in recent years, the art design education is undergoing rapid development in Anhui higher education, and has achieved a great deal. By September 9, 2006, 48 in 94 Anhui universities have started art design education. Nearly 20 related majors have been opened for college and university students, in which the enrolled students have amounted to about 15,000. The teaching condition meets the basic needs. The number of students and recruitment registration raises year by year, and the undergraduate employment rate is rising, too. However, due to the restrictions from the society, the economy, people's value and the management as well, the development of the art design education in Anhui universities is yet so restricted, which is reflected fully in the following problems: The matriculation examination is stereotyped; the source of students limited, which, to a certain degree, affects the recruitment; the curriculum for the undergraduate art design education too general with a vague orientation; the curriculum in some schools not so well-planned, which does not work for the overall development of the students; teachers resources relatively weak; and the graduate education covers so small a part. There also exist some weaknesses with the teaching activities, for example, the teaching management not in good order, field practice and practice field construction not so emphasized, so on and so forth. In view of the above problems, the author proposes the following countermeasures to the long-term development: Reform the recruitment to open up the fresh source to guarantee the comprehensive quality of the students. Pay special attention to building up the teachers and staff and strengthen the teaching management to raise the teaching level to guarantee the quality of education. Universities should make full use of their own and the local resources, make clear their specialization, optimize the curriculum, and emphasize the school characteristics. Universities in better conditions should continue to expand the investment in building up the specialties. The art design education in Anhui universities needs to step onto a new stair. Various universities should pay special attention to field practice and practice field construction, take great care for the undergraduates getting employed, improve the quality of the undergraduates, and thus lay a solid foundation for the art design education in Anhui.
