This thesis studies the poem Fang Wen, who was born in Tongcheng, Anhui Province whose lifetime was during the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. The thesis first introduces the poet's own life and his genealogy in order to make clear his thoughts and the social background of his poets. There was a good tradition in Fang's family that each member should be fond of studying, in the family atmosphere like this, he had been studying with Fang Yizhi from youth time. He appreciated Du fu, Tao Yuanming and Bai Juyi best among all the ancient poets. Because of the unstable society of the end of Ming dynasty, he had to wander all around. In the Ming Dynasty he was only a junior student, after the perishing of the Ming Dynasty, he was so sorrowful that he called himself as an abandoned person. He degraded fame and profit, satisfying with being poor, and made a living by begging, fortune telling and curing people when he was old.Our thesis then studies his poems which flowed out from the bottom of his heart and had no unnatural stuff. His poems really reflected that unstable period of history; from which we can clearly know the situation at that time. He made a lot of friends, because of this, he had recorded many celebrities in his poems, from which we may have some idea about the poems' creation at that time. The whole lifetime of Fang Wen was during the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. He experienced that turmoil of the society. Many poems in his "TuShan Poems Collection " really expressed the author's anxiety to the current events, as well as the pains of fall of a nation. Approximately before Jia-Shen (Chongzhen 17, 1644), the Ming Dynasty was tottering, threatened by the agriculturists' revolt, that stage was called poems of the earlier period; The second stage was after Jia-Shen, and may be called poems of the later period, which was filled with country sickness. Besides, the poet was always concerning about the life of the people, that concerns appeared a lot in his poems. Divisions also appeared in his achievement, the earlier period, in which he simulated Du Fu; the later period, he learned from Bai Juyi, making his poems be easily understood, and was good at narration.
