Stefan Zweig, the Austrian writer, has undergone the two world wars and kept his anti-war viewpoint continuously to prop up a spiritual sky for the crazy world and desperate people in the time of darkness and turmoil.The thesis explores how the Zweig' s viewpoint on war forms and its intension on the basis of Zweig' s anti-war novels and biographies. The thesis consists of three parts. The first part discusses in three aspects—Zweig' s living environment, national consciousness, cosmopolitanist spirit,—which make influence on his viewpoint on war. The second part focused on the bitter experience of Zweig' s in the two world wars and his vigorous anti-war action by using his works as a weapon. The thesis discloses the trauma and sin which Zweig and people of all the world have suffered from the wars, and explains how Zweig' s viewpoint on war forms by expounding the living state of all mortal beings. The third part discusses three intensions of Zweig' s viewpoint: supreme freedom, anti-violence, humanism, and emerges his attitude towards war as a jew, humanist, peacemonger and cosmopolitanist, to show his desire for freedom and humanity, his condemnation for violence, his sympathy for people . The last part expounds the enlightenment of those questions about the war, the morality , the fate and living value of people in the modern society. |
