The quantifier is one of modern Chinese grammar traits and the individual companion quantifier is the most representative one in quantifier system. Recently, the extensive usage of individual companion quantifier becomes an important method in measuring new things. Meanwhile, such usage also indicates in certain degree the inner adjustment and choice of modem Chinese grammar and vocabulary system. This article discusses the modern Chinese quantifier system developing trend through the research on extensive phenomenon of "GE" "BA" "WEI".And this article describes and calculates the extensive phenomenon of "GE", "BA" and "WEI" on three language levels—the oral language, the literal language and the political language. Using computer search and human calculation collects about 1100 000 words in oral language material, 3 500 000 words in literal language material and 6 000 000 words in political language material, base on which this article explores the extensive phenomenon and rules of individual companion quantifier.Through the research, "GE", as the general individual quantifier, has the largest range while used extensively though relatively in small amount of vocabulary, including all the noun types that individual companion quantifier can accompany with. "BA" has the smallest using range and vocabulary, only can be used in nouns that related to hand with a haft or the similar. While "WEI" can be used extensively in the largest amount of vocabulary but still it has small range. The 98.4% vocabulary is related to human, and the rest is the individual noun and abstract noun which are also related to human. Besides, if the individual noun or abstract noun which never has exclusive quantifier is counted by "GE" in the extensive usage, then the numeral only limits to "one" and certain modifier must be added before the noun. The research also indicates that though the quantifier in modern Chinese system has two trends-"extensiveness" and "speciality", the extensive usage of individual companion quantifier mainly focuses on the characters and traits of the countable nouns and noun phrases that are related and never been counted. Thus, this article believes that modern Chinese quantifier system so far still in the developing phase from imperfect to perfect, unsystematically to systematical.
