The music of Chinese zither is serene, gentle and profound, with a long linering charm. What we get is an aesthetic feeling quite different from that we get from Western music.In the music of Chinese zither, the performer will vibrate even a simple monotone by chanting or rubbing, making the people feel the aura of life. The tone of Chinese zither music is not left to disppear linearly after being played out. Instead,the aftersound is often treated deviously. This is a feature of performance treatment for Chinese monotone melody music.
