Substance is a key concept in the philosophy of Spinoza. The controversy about the philosophic character of Spinoza's substance concept has been discussed all the time, since he brought forward this concept, and it is still in debating now. Many scholars have made decision the character of Spinoza's substance whose is materialism. The characters of materialism have been a major point to write in textbook, but it is not the last word and still exits the controversy. Thus, there is the large significance to study the character of Spinoza's. At first, the article followed up the origin of Spinoza's substance in the western philosophy, and reviewed some important philosophy theories in ancient and latter-day philosophy history. Especially, we paid attention to the active influence of Judaism to Spinoza's substance (God or Natural). Therefore, we make a conclusion that the philosophy of Spinoza is a kind of objective idealism and his Substance is an objective and absolute Spirit Substance. Furthermore, the article reviewed the influence to Germanic ancient philosophy, and revealed his Substance's active significance in philosophy history. According to this, we demonstrated some rationalities and the active status of the objective idealism in western philosophy history.
