The study object of this thesis is the Zuojiang vernacular, specifically referring to a Yue dialect mainly used in ruined streets and Han villages along Zuojiang middle coast, such as Qujiu Street and Bahe village , Qujiu Town, Fusui county , Old Street and New Street in Laituan Town of Jiangzhou district, Quli village and Tuomu village in Tuolu Town,Chongzuo City,Gugangxi. It attempts to reveal the characteristics of Zuojiang vernacular by the description and analysis of its(Qujiu, Laituan) pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, and its comparison with Guangzhou dialect and Nanning dialect, with a view to providing some available materials for the study of the Yue dialects in Guangxi or even the entire Yue dialects.This thesis is divided into two sections. The first section deals with the synchronic description and diachronic analysis of the Zuojiang vernacular, including the introduction, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and transcription while the second section includes its related discussion, including its comparison with Guangzhou dialect and Nanning dialect, its pronunciation change and historical levels, and the analysis of the causes for its tone variations.
