Chinese Basic Areas Of Vocabulary Study

To research the lexical words is the important thing in the linguistics. However, it was seldom to use the theory of cognitive linguistics in lexical research. In the angle of cognitive linguistics, we use the theory of category and theory of prototype for researching the modern Chinese lexical words. I hope this thesis is useful for researching the lexical words, compiling dictionary and teaching Chinese as a foreign language.It was composed of five chapters in the thesis.First chapter, it looked back the study of lexical words before, then it introduced the situation of cognitive linguistics in and outside the country. Finally, it told the contact and way to do this research.Second chapter, guided with the cognitive linguistics theory, it defined the category, basic level category and the words of basic level category. Then it told the words of basic level category from the main words, the common words and the high frequency words.Third chapter, it said the characteristic of paraphrasing the words of basic level categories and the characteristic of collocation.Fourth chapter, it was about the usage of basic level category words in the daily conversation, compiling dictionary, teaching Chinese as a foreign language and translating. Fifth chapter, it was a conclusion about this thesis.
