China's"sixth generation film"director groups emerged in the early 1990s, and in the mid-1990s gradually formed its own style. With their works constantly winning the international film awards, domestic critics became increasingly interested in their works, their focus is on whether they can be called a"generation", and whether in the history of the Chinese film, they have achieved a real breakthrough. Opinions on this issue are of many different points of view. The late works of the"six-generation"directors take on some difference from the early period. However, such difference is not essential to their nature. And this is a strategic road for the full development of th"esixth generation". In this paper, the fundamental point is confirming that the Chinese"sixth generation"film director does exist. Starting from this point, with the use of the cultural studies, from theory to the analysis of the text, the theoretical analysis of the text to the comprehensive study, considering the cultural and aesthetic significance of the area, and also in the context of globalization, this thesis by a contrast with the survival of backgrounds and ideas, aesthetic characteristics of the fifth-generation directors, traces the formation, development and current creation of the"sixth generation"directors and analyses in its cultural and aesthetic context, their gains and losses. From analysis of the phenomenon found in the works of aesthetic style, from the theoretical research on its creation in the history of film, this paper points out practical approaches for China's"sixth generation"film, and suggestions for the development of Chinese films.
