Looking back at the Taiwanese cinema in the early 21 st century,while the works of art have shined in the international arena,the local market has faced a crisis of survival.Under the huge impact of Hollywood movies,most aspects of the film industry were close to the edge of extinction.In the face of the powerlessness of the market,there were still many young directors who have devoted themselves to the creation of films,and they were eager to change their lives with passion.Since 2007,the accumulated energy has finally fermented,and several cutting-edge directors have released the first feature film and achieved surprising results at the box office.Chen Hwai-En's “Island Etude” has driven the cycling around the island.Until 2008,Wei Te-Sheng's "Cape No.7" wrote the highest single-screen record in Taiwan's film history: 530 million Taiwan dollars.After many new generations of creators emerged,they gradually became the backbone of Taiwanese films.From the trough of the beginning of the new century to the emergence of the new wave,Taiwan's movies have experienced changes in the government's counselling policy,the creators' confusion and exploration of the theme of the theme,and the public's chanting and divergence,finally ushering in a rainbow after heavy rain,which was strongly proved the value and ability of the new generation of directors.The new generation of directors inherited the ethos of the new movie creators who paid attention to social reality and cared for this land.However,faced with different backgrounds of the times,they gradually put down the tragic history of the heavy nationalistic fables,more synchronized with the current society,and observed pluralism.Social issues are to restore,reproduce,and interpret the sentiments and identities of Taiwanese society,the humanistic care for local culture,and the integration and development of diverse ethnic groups with the perspective of the new generation.In terms of narrative content,they either adapted the works of popular novels,or learned from the real events of the news,or the writing of individual experiences,as well as the topics reflecting the local culture and the emotional propositions of youthful growth.In addition,the new generation of directors also pay more attention to the establishment of commercial mechanisms,and the work reflects a more tangible awareness of Taiwan's land.They hope that more elemental stories that constitute Taiwan's social life can be heard and spread,opening up new generations of new generations and new developments in Taiwanese films.This article takes the rise of Taiwan's new generation of directors as its research object after 2007.From the perspective of social context,creative characteristics,aesthetic style,and four representative figures: Mong-Hong Chung,Nelson Yeh,Leste Chen,and Wei-Hao Cheng,they are constantly developing various of type film as well as instilling a distinct style of authors and thinking about social history and culture through the film.They are the main force in the current Taiwanese film industry,and their works have certain artistic and commercial value.This article attempts to explore their creative characteristics and development direction through their works,thus analyzing the evolution of Taiwan's new generation of director style,the artistic characteristics of film creation and the laws and models of market operations.Finally,the future direction of the director of the new generation is presented with reflection and expectations.
