Literature historian, H.R.Trene, in the introduction of his《History of BritishLiterature》, clearly stresses the equal importance of region, races and times, which is regarded asthe three main decisive factors of literature.The importance of regional culture is verified by objective situations of different regionalcultures formed in China with a vastland and various nationalities. E.g. Mr.Shencongwen's cultureof Chu Dynasty, Mr. Laoshe's culture of the capital, Mr.Lijieren's Sichuan culture, Mr.Zhaoshuli'sculture of Threepants of Shanxi. Mushiying and Zhangailing's culture of Shanghai.Many people believe that there's no culture in Northeast China, but that big bowls of wine,meat and wide wildness, because of its poor land and backward culture. Here's my analysis offeature of culture in Northest China, in the eye of regional culture, with Xiaohong's two novels,Life or death and Story of River Hulan, as its center.The essay consists of three pants. Pant one talks about objictive discription of regional culturein northeast in Xiaohong's novel. The analysis is mainly done in thc aspects of invironmentalfeatures and local customs, of which the former lays enyohisis on coldncss and backwandness,which embodied by Kang(bed), the uniqne imaginative space in Xiaohong's novel. In terms ofcultural customs, customs of weddiug and fcnurals are mainly analyzed, which has thecharacteristics of northeast, and thus stresses the regional feature of Xiao's novel.Pant two deals with thinking of thc nature of nation, which rises from the northeast soil. InLuxun's novel, veny bad and lasting nature of nation, which makes people sad and angry. InXiao's novel, unique northeast nature of people is seen, as well as its disposure and criticism ontheir numbness, foolishness and nature of slavery, spreading of new thinking of May 4 thmoverment.
