Based On The Net Computer English Network Teaching Platform Design And Realization

With the rapid advance of multi-media and network technologies, web-based learningbecomes possible. This new way of leaning can break the limit of traditional campus,create a diverse learning environment that is not limited by time and space. Network canmake the learner more actively participate and feel more interested in the study itself.《English for Computer Science》is one important compulsory course for computerscience and related majors. In our school, Specialized English teaching is still in itsprimitive stage. Right now, the main (if not the only) of objective of Specialized Englishcourse is to teach students the skills of reading the English references in their major. Thisdoes not conform to the requirements of the College English Teaching Guide, whichinclude three abilities, i.e., strong reading ability, medium listening and translating abilityand basic writing and speaking ability. This would directly lead to the poor performanceof teaching and students often feel boring. Web-based teaching platform is a very usefulmeans for computer-aided teaching to iv.crease the teaching performance. Therefore, wedesign and implement a web-based teaching platform for English for Computer Science》, that adopts the advanced.NET technology.In this paper, we present the development background of the web-based teachingplatform for《English for Computer Science》, introduce the analysis and developmentprocess of the teaching platform based on. NET technology, and specifically give thedetailed description of the design and implementation of the overall platform and database.We discuss various techniques such as B/S system mode, ASP.NET, C# and data securityand etc. We also explain the issues during our development and our correspondingsolutions. Currently, our system function is divided into user function (foreground) andadministrator function (background). The user function consists of user registration, userlogin, the browsing and downloading of teaching software and course material, online test,study forum and etc. The administrator function consists of account administration,teaching material administration, forum administration and etc.Our system follows the theory and method of modern software engineering. Duringthe development, we adopt B/S system mode, ASP.NET technology and the new C#programming language that is specially designed for. NET platform by Microsoft corporation. Our system is developed and implemented in Windows 2000 Server + VisualStudio.NET 2003 + SQL Server 2000 platforms.
