The period of Later Tang Dynasty to Wudai Dynasty is the beginning of Early Modern Chinese, Chinese language enters into a new historical stage. There were a lot of new words, new meanings and peculiar lexical phenomena in the period. Bei Meng Suo Fan, which was accomplished at that time, is one of the most important fictions of sketches. It shows great value for us to study the lexical phenomena in that period. The disyllables in Bei Meng Suo Fan are the study objects in this dissertation that refers to the Great Chinese Dictionary. The literatures in both Later Tang and Wudai or before Later Tang Dynasty are cited by the thesis. The new words and new meanings of the book are completely described and analyzed. The characteristics of the new words and new meanings are then summarized. At the same time, some defects such as quotations lagging, paraphrases improper and so on in the Great Chinese Dictionary are corrected or redressed in the process of the research. The research may supply some materials for glossary history and the compilation of dictionaries.
