Ciyu Mo is special phenomenon which is worthy for attention and research in Chinese language. This thesis redefines the concept of Ciyu Mo based on the past research of Li Yuming's definition, and makes an elementary study on the style, peculiarity, relationship in arrangement, formation and development of Ciyu Mo in contemporary Chinese.Chapter 1 presents the purpose, significance, theory and means of the research, the source of corpus, and the related research on the subject.Part 2 and 3 is about the synchronic study on Ciyu Mo in contemporary Chinese, including the definition, the characteristics, the type and the formation of Ciyu Mo. Mobiao is characterized with the combination of nominal and notional meaning, indication of the part of speech and orientation of words. Ciyu Mo is various in types. According to different criterion of classification, the result varies. The relationship between Mobiao and Mocao is complicating, the combination of monosyllable Mobiao and disyllable Mocao is the main part of syllable matching, both semantic relationship and grammatical relationship are complex. Ciyu Mo has the function of lexicalization of phrases, it also can make out word/phrase continuum.Chapter 4 and 5 is about the diachronic study on Ciyu Mo in contemporary Chinese. Firstly, it discusses the formation of Ciyu Mo and the causation of it in the respective of linguistics and culture. The main way of formation lies in creation and borrowing,which is related to the social life and the psychology of new period.Secondly, we described the phenomenon of dissymmetry of prefix and suffix. Simultaneously, and we also studied the dynamic development of Ciyu Mo as well. Mobiao and Mocao change in the formation of Ciyu Mo, that is, neology appears different in function rank in the same Ciyu Mo, based on which, the thesis forecasts the development of contemporary Chinese.
